If somebody had to ask what I considered to be the ultimate luxury african safari – I would probably have to say that it would either be in Botswana or in Kenya. If it was Botswana, then it would mean staying at the most beautiful tented camp on this earth, in the Kalahari desert, where one can explore the desert with an amazing guide, seeing desert dwelling species and habituated meerkat. You could learn about the bushmen or san people and go out with them for a walk, hearing about how they forage for plants and learning about their culture. The camp is white and bedouin in style, with persian rugs and the view looks out over a white, shimmering salt pan. The views are simply staggering. Then, I would go to the most beautiful lodge where I could take an elephant back safari for three days. You overnight at this beautiful lodge in the heart of the Okavango delta,and the days are spent walking and game viewing on the back of an elephant – simply magical and probably the most humbling thing you can do! Stay at a magnificent lodge in the Moremi which is renowned for its fabulous wildlife, or travel further north to Chobe to do the same thing. End off at Victoria Falls – which is a truly special and fitting ending!
