I admit – I am entirely biased! For me there is no family holiday like family safari holidays! They simply offer so much and I take my own family on safari each year, several times a year. Family Vacations are an extremly precious thing, especially given the limited timescale one has to go on holiday. Going to Africa from the US  or pretty much from anywhere is both a long and expensive option – and therefore has to be absolutely right! At African Explorations, we all come from Africa, we know the seasons, how the land lies and most importantly, we arrange our own family safaris each year – as well as arranging many family safari vacations for our clients!

Firstly – we need to determine whether you are city dwellers or whether you like the countryside and might even be open to some private camping?

Then, we work out what the famillies’ collective hobbies and interests are – is it horse riding, photography, trekking, walking, fishing  (we know you want to see game!). Then we try and incorporate as many of these elements as possible to give you the perfect safari for your family!

We might even decide a private guide is best for you, so that you are ‘hand held’ from beginning to end. Then we look at the accommodation – tented, a tree house, a lodge for those who want greater comforts or might be nervous.  If you have extremely young children under the age of 4 we might suggest a malaria free region in South Africa.

Then we see whether you might like to go on a camel assisted walking safari with the local communities and tribes, visit some schools or villages, perhaps ride an elephant and learn how elephant herds interact.
