Bespoke Holidays

Bespoke Holidays are really the only kind of holiday that I think really works! Bespoke is just that – it is a holiday which is completely individually tailored for you – whether you are a couple, a group of friends travelling together or a family.

It means that the experiences you want are taken into consideration – whether you are active, outdoorsy type of people who would like to go walking, trekking, horse riding, scuba diving, snorkelling or canoeing and cycling – whether you are foodies – enjoying the finest cuisine wherever you travel (and again, that can either be staying in luxury hotels or lodges or camps or cycling to gourmet places). Perhaps you might like to cycle around Kanha or Kerala or walk with Sherpa guides in the Himalayas, staying in beautiful village houses en route and ending up at a beautiful luxury house overlooking Nanda Devi.

If you are city people, perhaps you would like to simply relax on a beach somewhere which offers the finest spa treatments, visit cities such as Galle in Sri Lanka or go antique hunting in Tamil Nadu in India or visit the palaces in Rajasthan or spend time wine tasting in Cape Town, staying at the finest boutique hotels and have a private wine tour arranged for you, with the cellar master of the top estates taking you around. If you are interested in botany, we can arrange the most beautiful botanical tours through South Africa for you which you can largely do by yourself or we can arrange a private guide for you. If you want to explore the Middle East, we can take you into the deserts of Jordan and Oman or taking a luxury dahabiya down the Nile.

You might like to stay in a private house or villa in Mauritius, The Seychelles, Maldives, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania or Kenya. Perhaps a Robinson Crusoe retreat might suit you more! Exlusivity is the key…We can obviously arrange the most sensational safaris for you too in East, Central and southern Africa as well as Madagascar and India, Borneo, Burma, Sri Lanka and Nepal and then we have the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador!

In Africa one can stay at private tented camps or lodges, with private guides or take a private flying safari along the Skeleton Coast in Namibia. Again, all hobbies and interests are taken into consideration, including photography whereby you can have a professional photographer accompany you for a couple of days to inspire and teach you. Spend time with lion or elephant researchers too!  Cookery and yoga classes are possible too! Whatever your interests and whatever sort of  places you would like to stay in, just let us know! No brief is too wide! What you can be assured of though, is with a staff of specialists from Africa and India and over 22 years of arranging the finest bespoke holidays, you can be assured of a holiday of a lifetime with us!

Bespoke Safari Holidays

Bespoke Safari Holidays is really the only way of going on safari. All the safari holidays we arrange are purely bespoke because it is important that a safari is absolutely right for you – not for everyone else! This begins with all your hobbies and interests, such as photography, scuba diving, walking, horse riding, bird watching, climbing or even viewing wildlife on the bank of an elephant, being part of a herd. Then if there are any animals you specifically would like to see, we ensure that we place you in those areas where you are most likely to see them.

If there is a group of 4 of you or more, we will often suggest a private guide which enhances your safari.

Finally, we discuss what sort of accommodation you would most enjoy – a lodge, a luxury tented camp, a cutting edge designer lodge or a simple, private mobile tented camp which moves along with you wherever you go.

Bespoke Safaris Kenya

If you were thinking of travelling to East Africa, then the only way to really consider it would be a bespoke safari to Kenya – which is all that we arrange!

The reasons are countless – but primarily it allows you to be able to do everything you wished to do on a safari – whether it be improving your photography and getting some practice in for your new camera – to walking to your heart’s content with wildlife abounding around you, to sleeping out beneath the stars – to horse riding amongst game – or simply having an amazing guide who will teach you all about the birdlife and plantlife – identifying birds and trees with you. The wildlife is a given – and we will always place you in the very best areas to see game – whether you want to see a particular species, or whether you just want to see whatever is out there!

The important thing is to choose a company who knows what they are talking about – who have visited not only the country but all the  places in it too – which takes some doing! At African Explorations, we all come from Africa, having spent our lives on the continent and with staff from Kenya we really can suggest the best places for you – whether it is trying to capture the wildebeest migration, going on a family safari – perhaps a walking safari or a camel assisted safari, or flying low over the Masai Mara or fishing on Lake Victoria – all these things are possible! One of my favourite places is in Laikipia, overlooking the escarpment for as far as the eye can see! The lodge is beautiful and family owned – so you have a completely different perspective and you are treated like family, too !

Bespoke Safaris

I really don’t think there is any other way of undertaking a safari these days with complete success unless it is entirely bespoke, which is exactly what we do at African Explorations.

Bespoke Safaris from AfricanExplorations.com

In order to ensure the perfect success of a safari, one has to really understand what makes that person tick – the sort of accommodation they would most enjoy – from a luxurious lodge complete with butler service, to a  small, intimate permanent lodge or tented camp in a beautiful location, to a private mobile tented camp erected purely for you. Then if you would require a private guide to accompany you throughout your safari – and if so, we must ensure they match your personality – then we need to include any particular hobbies or interests that you may have. Perhaps scientific – in which case we would arrange for you to accompany a lion scientist, or go out with an elephant specialist, or a wild dog specialist. Perhaps you might be interested in photography, in which case we would select a guide or camp which facilitates just this – camps that provide bean bags and special platforms for your camera – some camps even have a media room – and then one can even join a specialist photographic safari. You might be a keen birdwatcher, in which case we might even place you on a special Shoebill stork safari.

It may be a wonderful family safari – in which case we would listen carefully to the interests of your children and match them – sending them to places which offered perhaps a private villa complete with skipper and private boat – or a luxury Robinson Crusoe styled place with more watersports than ever imagined!  We can arrange for you to spend a day with a Samburu or Maasai warrior, learning about their culture – or even visit a school. You may be a rider travelling with a non rider – that is easily arranged, too! You might want to sail at the end of your safari – just say the word! Perhaps you simply want something completely luxurious and utterly romantic – we have all the places at our fingertips! Whatever it is you wish to do – we can tailor it to you – perfectly! Bespoke Safaris are, after all, just what we’re about!
