The Ksour
The Ksour (granaries) are a peculiarity of south eastern Tunisia, a remarkable series of adobe buildings in the desert that came to be an inspiration for George Lucas, who shot the first Star Wars films in this part of the world using such structures as the backdrop. The granary vaults are often extremely well preserved and most photogenic, with vaulted staircases built into the front of the buildings leading from one floor to the next.
