Sur

Sur is a charming and historical coastal town, thriving south of Muscat. The building of dhows in the boat yards here has been central to the town for generations, and the sight of these boats on the waves of the Gulf is an iconic one. Aside from the dhows, however, are the attractions of labyrinthine traditional houses and the nearby turtle-nesting site of Ras al-Jinz.
