Ras al-Jinz
At the easternmost point of the Arabian Peninsula lies Ras al-Jinz, a beach which welcomes female green turtles to its shores to nest and lay eggs. The species may be endangered, but turtles return each year in their thousands to lay their eggs. The site, so crucial to the future of the animals, is protected by the government but when you see the turtles toil on to the sands or their hatchlings strive for the sea it is a wondrous experience.
