Ubari Sand Sea

The desert expanse of Ubari is a taste of the Sahara, but what makes the area special are the lakes which emerge from nowhere amongst the sand. These saline waters are stunning – fringed with a ring of palms and lush green that flout the desert heat. Shortly beyond the dunes resume normal business, soaring high above the water. The largest, Gabraoun, is possible to swim in, though the lowering water levels of these lakes make it a destination to visit sooner than later.
