Kerak Castle
Kerak is the largest Crusader Castle in Jordan, dominating the landscape of the town which exists beneath it. It lies about 1000m above the sea level, and guarded trade routes between Damascus and Egypt from its position along the King’s Highway. The remains are in good condition, despite having been built originally in the twelfth century. The scale of the fortifications is most impressive, as are the views over the surrounding areas.
