Philae Temple is one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt. Its location on an island was even more spectacular a generation ago when the flooding of the Nile meant that for some months of the year the ruins lay partially submerged. Today, thanks to restoration work and the construction of the Aswan dam, Philae’s future is secured, and the remains of the temple remain as arresting as ever.
