Larger international standard hotels
The international hotels offer comfort, a good variety of dining options and good service, and usually occupy great positions in cities or near sites of interest. They do not always have the charm and local flavour of boutique options, but often they are the only practical choice.
Where you’ll find places like this: All over North Africa and the Middle East.
A featured example: Kempinski Ishtar, Dead Sea
The Dead Sea is a tranquil spot in northern Jordan, and a curiosity for all visitors who have never experienced the sensation of floating on its saline waters. Today a handful of spa hotels have sprung up alongside the shore, of which the Kempinski Ishtar is by some distance the best.
Though large at just over three hundred rooms, the Kempinski has been thought out most carefully by architects, and one always feels as if the place is one’s own. The resort part of the hotel, where each room is part of small villas, feels well away from the hustle of the real world. Here, there are a number of improbably majestic infinity pools soaking up the views over the Dead Sea waters.
The rooms are finished to the extremely high standards one would expect from a Kempinski hotel, are most spacious and include extravagant bathrooms with Dead Sea products. As a place to unwind just an hour away from the international airport, there is no better alternative.
