Horse Treks Africa

{lang: 'en-GB'}

Horse Treks in Africa are one of the best ways of going on safari! We have so many that we can really recommend!

Depending upon your riding ability and fitness level, one of our top riding treks or safaris is in the Masai Mara, for ten days. Here one rides with the wildebeest migration at certain times of year. The riding is fast paced and is interspersed with game drives as well. Camp is moved from place to place and it is simply perfect – you have the finest of guides, the very best horses, the greatest amount of fun, the wildlife is the best you can possibly hope to get – especially riding alongside thousands of wildebeest – and for experienced riders, this is the Rolls Royce of riding safaris!

Then we have amazing riding safaris in Botswana. Top of the list must be our desert and delta ride. Here one rides for three nights or more in the delta (and this can cater for a wider range of ability), riding through the water, swimming with the horses. This is great fun – and then the very best – riding through the Kalahari desert for five days. The scenery has to be seen to be believed. It is so extraordinarily beautiful – with desert dwelling species and gorgeous camps to sleep in! For those who want a slight difference, we also do a paddle and saddle – so it is a canoe safari for a few days followed by the same riding safari in the Kalahari desert. Just magical!

Then we have riding safaris in South Africa, too and a number of places where one can ride out for just a couple of hours during the day. We can also offer riding in Tanzania, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Uganda.

Zambia Safari

{lang: 'en-GB'}

A Zambia safari is truly unique – this country lends itself to some of the finest walking safaris in Africa! Whether it is in the south Luangwa, north Luangwa or a region that is always left out on people’s maps – Kafue. No Safari to Zambia should be complete without including Kafue and the Busanga Plains which must rate as one of the most beautiful regions in the country. And brimming with wildlife too – not spilling over with wildlife – there is a difference! Whether it is on a boat (where on my last safari I spotted leopard in broad daylight!), or by vehicle – this region is just so rewarding. The last visit to Busanga Plains heralded several prides of black maned lion, wild dog and a plethora of other animals. The birdlife is sensational – crowned cranes amongst many others!

Add to that the lower Zambezi which is simply magical – this huge river with all its abundant wildlife on the banks of the river and some of the most beautiful camps and lodges with phenomenal guiding – finishing off perhaps with Livingstone – the Zambian side of Victoria Falls – and you have yourself the finest safari imaginable!

Ant’s Nest

{lang: 'en-GB'}

Ant’s Nest is one of our favourite places where we take our own family holidays too.  This is in a non-malarial area which is really beautiful, situated in the Waterberg Mountains. There is a lovely farmhouse which one can take over as a family or there is Ant’s Hill, which is also lovely – which one shares with other people. There is horse riding here and one can ride amongst the game – the horses are excellent and cater for all abilities!

There is game viewing by vehicle and also on foot. They also do game counts, so if you want to be there for a game capture we can always arrange for your family to be involved in this which is very exciting. There is a swimming pool and there  are also more game concentrated areas where one can visit from Ant’s Nest. This is a real home from home atmosphere, the house is gorgeous and to have that wonderful climate too, is simply heavenly!

Most clients return and say that going to stay at Ant’s Nest is akin to reliving a carefree childhood – something that is so often denied to our children these days!

There are so many very beautiful camps offering all sorts of different experiences in the Delta – from lodges with gorgeous architecture to a private tented, simple tented camp to a private camp which has persian rugs in your room and silver candelabra on the dinner table for night dining – with your own private vehicle and guide – this is all that awaits you!

Luxury Okavango Delta Safari with AfricanExplorations.com

Then you can go out on an elephant-back safari for three or four days where you watch and become part of the herd or even go out with a zoologist one day for a couple of hours, walking with his herd of elephant. There is even amazing riding in the Okavango Delta too.

Combine this with the Kalahari Desert and you have the safari of a lifetime!

african safari tailormade

{lang: 'en-GB'}

An African safari needs to be tailormade in order to ensure that you get the most out of it. Just rationalise – how could one safari be right for thousands of people? It simply can’t – and one just ends up compromising hugely. And why should one? When paying this much money for a holiday (or anything else in life, for that matter), it has to be as perfect as possible – and the only way this is possible is to replicate an environment that you not only feel comfortable in, but indeed surpasses all your expectations and leaves you breathless!

And that’s where we come in! We listen to you, ask lots of questions, analyse and disseminate that information and then send you a suggestion which we think  will be absolutely right for you! Whether its taking in photography lessons  with a film maker and guide in the Masai Mara, going up in a hot air balloon across the sand dunes in the Namib Desert of Namibia or flying over the harsh and beautiful Skeleton Coast. Perhaps it is seeing the wildebeest migration in the mighty Serengeti – or spending times with chimps. It could be spending time with a researcher, looking for wild dog in Botswana, or taking a houseboat on the Chobe River. Perhaps it is looking at gorillas or sitting on the back of an elephant on an elephant back safari in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. What about riding a horse across the Kalahari Desert in Botswana or sipping wine at some of the best wine estates in the Cape? It might even be canoeing along the Mighty Zambezi in Zimbabwe or viewing the Victoria Falls. It could even be undertaking a walking safari.

These, plus a myriad of other ideas are available to you – we would love to share our knowledge and enthusiasm with you!

Luxury Safari Zambia

{lang: 'en-GB'}

A luxury safari Zambia is easily achievable! There are so many truly gorgeous camps in amazing locations. My two favourite regions are the Lower Zambezi – where we have three really stunning camps – from very simple to pretty luxurious! Here one has the most fabulous views as one looks out over the mighty Zambezi River. It is one of the most beautiful regions in Africa. The game viewing is excellent and one can explore the region by canoe, on foot and by open vehicle with superb guides. There is even tremendous fishing for tiger fish here!

Luxury Safaris Zambia with AfricanExplorations.com

Then we move onto Busanga Plains just outside Kafue – which is an unique area which is incredibly rich in wildlife and birdlife – boasting both southern and East African species. It is known as the mini Serengeti because of its outlook as well as the concentration of wildlife!

The south Luangwa is renowned for its walking safaris and we have some glorious bush camps which are incredibly comfortable – again with the most superb guiding! One learns so much more on foot and one feels far more in tune with the earth in general.

Luxury Safari Zambia with AfricanExplorations.com

Livingstone, the Zambian side of Victoria Falls is beautiful and we have the most beautiful places to stay including a small lodge on a private island with just  a handful of cottages, which are open fronted, so one is greeted with the dawn each day! Just bliss!

Luxury Safari Zambia with AfricanExplorations.com

North Luangwa is also wonderful and is mainly known for its walking safaris. Kafue is lovely and here one can take over a small owner managed camp that has just three cottages – if there is a family. Zambia offers a down to earth, genuine African experience, with some of the best guiding in Africa and of course, the finest walking!

Kenya Luxury Safari

{lang: 'en-GB'}

There are lots of wonderful ways to experience Kenya, but none quite so wonderful as a Kenya Luxury Safari. For me, the best way of exploring an area is to have the most amazing guide to bring the region to life for you – the guide is in fact the most crucial aspect of any safari! Then – one of my favourites is a  private camp in the Mara which is set in a truly game rich area – and one of the best for the migration. Here you have wrought iron candelabra in the bathroom to add a sense of occasion and the sitting area which overlooks the bush and is open on all sides with a huge candelabra to give a warm light in the evenings. Having no electricity creates a wonderful atmosphere. The days are spent viewing some of the finest and most concentrated wildlife in Africa, whilst the evenings are spent laughing and chatting about what you have seen during the day. Perhaps even go out on a sundowner flight across the Mara, arriving as the sun begins to set. This truly is spectacular!

Kenya Luxury Safari with AfricanExplorations.com

Then perhaps travel to Meru or Samburu National Parks, north of the equator and stay in a beautiful lodge or tented camp – whichever takes your fancy! Perhaps go and visit an elephant research station or take a walk with a Samburu warrior, learning all about their culture as well as seeing superb elephant and other wildlife in the park. In the evening, at sundowners, watch the Samburu guides dance and become mesmerised with their simulanteous chanting and the finery of their clothing. This truly is Africa – and the continent delivers a pulsation that no other can equal!
