Malawi is one of my favourite countries in Africa – it offers something for everyone! Often referred to as the ‘warm heart of Africa’, this country really does inject real warmth from its friendly people. The markets are wonderful to visit – always chaotic, friendly, busy and colourful. The wildlife is really increasing and going from strength to strength – especially in parks such as Liwonde and Majete wildlife reserve.
You then have the fantastic Lake of Malawi – where one can stay at stunning properties that offer all manner of watersports, or go canoeing from a rustic, tented camp or even charter a catamaran complete with skipper up the lake.
For the more adventurous, one can climb Mount Mulanje or visit the tea plantations – staying at wonderful, colonial houses.
Malawi assures a wonderful, heady mix of culture, wildlife and the most stunning scenery imaginable – especially in the northern reaches where the Nyika plateau is situated. For a really different take on Malawi, definitely consider Malawi Holidays!
