These days, it is virtually impossible to get a safari in South Africa which is not a luxury South Africa safari! Literally all of the lodges bar perhaps a handful, are designed in grand style, ensuring complete luxury and comfort for today’s traveller.
The lodges are all small, boutique and intimate and vary in style from old fashioned, colonial feel to cutting edge, designer minimalism. What you will get is supreme comfort, amazing food, sensational wildlife viewing and fantastic guides – which is really, what anyone could ever hope for. The term ‘big five’ was what was used by hunter’s years ago on which were the most difficult animals to hunt on foot. These are elephant, black rhino, leopard, lion and Cape buffalo. However, South Africa specialises in trying to find the big five for their clientele.
Safaris these days can be conducted from an open vehicle (and for true luxury, order a private vehicle so you don’t have to share) and therefore, you have your own private guide too – a real must! I would recommend going out on foot as often as possible too, where you learn so much more – but one can also go out on mountain bike and on elephant back too – becoming part of the herd and learning so much more about these pachyderms. Then a number of lodges have state of the art spas – perfect after having been bumped around in a vehicle for several hours!
However you enjoy your luxury, let our team of specialists from South Africa tailor your perfect safari for you – with over 23 years of creating beautiful holidays for our clients – we have the inside knowledge to deliver something a little different!
