Family Safari In Kenya
For me, few countries in Africa can compete for offering the greatest amount of interest and activity on a family safari as Kenya. A family safari in Kenya offers so many wonderful and different experiences. To begin with, there is wildlife which is simply unparalleled, boasting the wildebeest migration which occurs very timeously during the school holidays – from July through to October in the Masai Mara. Then for the really active family there are wonderful ranches on the Laikipia plateau where one can horse ride, camp out at night and walk and game view by vehicle. For those more intrepid and looking for more of a cultural slant, then we can arrange for 3 nights or more going walking with the Samburu warriors through various regions and camping out at night – this is a truly wonderful experience as they demonstrate what they use plants and trees for and what it takes to be a Samburu warrior these days.
End up on the coast at a gorgeous villa complete with its own skipper and boat so you can while away the days snorkelling or you might like to stay at a chic Robinson Crusoe retreat which has more watersports than you know what to do with! You can also hire a boat for a few days or even stay on a lake. For the truly adventurous, you can stay in a log cabin and go fishing, or fly by helicopter to Lake Turkana.
For a family, we would suggest a private guide and perhaps even a luxury mobile tented camp – in the Masai Mara – or staying at a lovely lodge in Laikipia.
