Family Safari In Kenya

For me, few countries in Africa can compete for offering the greatest amount of interest and activity on a family safari as Kenya. A family safari in Kenya offers so many wonderful and different experiences. To begin with, there is wildlife which is simply unparalleled, boasting the wildebeest migration which occurs very timeously during the school holidays – from July through to October in the Masai Mara. Then for the really active family there are wonderful ranches on the Laikipia plateau where one can horse ride, camp out at night and walk and game view by vehicle. For those more intrepid and looking for more of a cultural slant, then we can arrange for 3 nights or more going walking with the Samburu warriors through various regions and camping out at night – this is a truly wonderful experience as they demonstrate what they use plants and trees for and what it takes to be a Samburu warrior these days.

End up on the coast at a gorgeous villa complete with its own skipper and boat so you can while away the days snorkelling or you might like to stay at a chic Robinson Crusoe retreat which has more watersports than you know what to do with! You can also hire a boat for a few days or even stay on a lake. For the truly adventurous, you can stay in a log cabin and go fishing, or fly by helicopter to Lake Turkana.

Family Safari in Kenya

I often take a family safari in Kenya – for me, it is the first choice every time for the most perfect family safari – especially with children aged from around 7 years upwards – and possibly even more so for teenagers. It really offers something for everyone!

Amazing wildlife experiences, private tented camps and areas where one has the choice to either game view or simply relax. In addition, one can go hiking, mountain biking, swimming in rivers, tubing, camping, horse riding, fly fishing, camel trekking, spend time with warriors learning about their culture, learn how to make bows and arrows and how to use them, learn how to make fires etc. The list, as you can see, is endless! Then there is the coast – or even the lakes – where one can go on practically every type of sea vessel possible – from kite surfing, to sailing lasers, to deep sea fishing, snorkelling, scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing – and that is for starters! Whether you want to be in a Robinson Crusoe styled lodge or a beautiful villa, the choice is yours! Perhaps you might even like a private camp erected for your family with your own private guide? Simply fantastic, especially at the time of the wildebeest migration!
