Luxury Egypt Tours

Luxury Egypt Tours – you’ll hear the term used all the time, but you have to be very careful with your choices if that’s truly the experience you want.

Take Nile cruises, for instance. It doesn’t seem to matter greatly what the qualities of the boats are, or whether they’re six months old or sixty years old – they tend to have been accorded five stars!

There are ‘five star ships’, and then there are truly five star ships. And the only way I have ever been able to tell the difference as an Egypt specialist is to go out and see them for myself.

And in fact, you often only find true luxury on the Nile away from the cruisers anyway. A personal favourite here at African Explorations are the dahabiyas – small, characterful sailing boats. No chugging engines, no swarms of people – just you, a handful of passengers and crew, and the Nile. And, of course, a stunning vessel.

Luxury Egypt Tours with AfricanExplorations.com

That’s the way we think of luxury – and we apply it to every aspect of the country that we suggest, to every guide that we pick for your trip.

We adopt that approach from the moment you get in touch, working out a programme that suits you, rather than shoehorning you in to a pre-arranged package.

So there are many ways to experience luxury Egypt tours – but there is ‘luxury’ and then there is luxury…

Adventure Holidays Africa

Anyone with a family will truly appreciate an adventure holiday in Africa.

So- what constitutes an adventure? This word has so many different meanings for so many different people. It can simply mean getting off the beaten track – and not doing what everyone else appears to do. It can mean doing something different to what you would normally do in your every day life – or even what you would normally do on holiday. For others it means lots of ‘daring do’ – and this we can provide in buckets full! I say family safaris simply because one can do the following:

Luxury Weddings in Africa

There is nothing quite like having luxury weddings in Africa. There are so many places that really lend themselves to having the most amazing wedding!

Luxury Weddings in Africa with AfricanExplorations.com

We have arranged a number of weddings for our clients and they have all been simply stunning! One of them was in Botswana at this truly beautiful camp in the Okavango Delta, where the ceremony was performed on a private island and the bride and groom arrived and departed on the back of an elephant.

We have also arranged several in truly gorgeous bush locations – where we have set up location in the most beautiful spot overlooking a wide river. The bride had the most gorgeous wild flower bouquets and she was married in a simple long dress. They had the most lovely African choir singing to them. Another example was in Zambia in Livingstone – getting married on Livingstone Island where there is a permanent rainbow and the Victoria Falls right next to you. Again we had a beautiful African choir singing for them.

If you want something more traditional, we have some really lovely small, pretty churches in the winelands in the Cape in South Africa where one can make one’s vows and your names are etched into the ancient wooden doors. Another lovely church is in the Mpumalanga region on an avocado pear plantation – whilst a further suggestion is on one of our favourite estates in Plettenberg Bay.

Sailing Trip Africa

Sailing trip Africa – This is a very different way to see Africa! I love sailing along the African coastline, whether it is in an old fashioned, Arab dhow, sailing from island to island, fishing along the way and sleeping beneath the stars or taking a schooner from Tanzania to Mozambique!

Sailing comes in many guises for us. We have lots of really gorgeous catamarans and yachts in Madagascar where one can sail from Nosy Be to the various islands, snorkelling and diving en route (this is the best way of exploring this beautiful coastline) and then we also have them on the East African coastline in Tanzania where one can snorkel and dive and fish, which is the perfect antidote to a family with teenage children who love to be active! Equally, the parents can sit and relax in the sun if they wish, or they can participate in skippering. There is also some excellent sea kayaking along the coastline.

Sailing Holidays on Lake Malawi with AfricanExplorations.com

In Malawi, there is a wonderful catamaran on Lake Malawi to explore the islands on the Lake and there is a super, down to earth, family owned  little lodge which has laser sailing boats amongst a host of dinghys and windsurfers etc, for the sailing enthusiastic family. There is also snorkelling and diving here. Equally, there is tremendous canoeing along the lake and a lovely camp to base yourself at.

In the Seychelles, we have some gorgeous yachts that you can board for a a few days to a week, which is the best way of exploring these islands. Start off on terra firma, staying at a lodge in Praslin before being collected and sailing off into the sunset!

Sailing Africa with AfricanExplorations.com

In Zimbabwe, we arrange from three night to a week canoe trails on the Zambezi,  some going as far afield to Mozambique, all guided by a professional guide and again, we have a super sea kayaking adventure from one of the islands in Mozambique taking in anything from three to ten days, snorkelling and scuba diving and fishing. In Botswana, one can take a mokoro trail (a wooden dug out canoe) for three to ten days, exploring the Okavango Delta. The options are endless!

Luxury Egypt

Luxury Egypt - Such is Egypt’s wealth of treasures that visitors have been visiting for centuries.

But with more and more people travelling to Egypt, it is harder than it used to be to have a personal, unique and luxurious experience.

Much of the accommodation in the country is excellent, but we like to suggest a few places we’ve seen which go beyond the standard trappings of first-class hotels and make for a truly special stay.

Dahabiya Nile with AfricanExplorations.com

We find the problem most on the Nile waters. There are literally hundreds of ships chugging up and down the Nile – hardly the storybook experience which people envisage before they arrive.

But certain ships have their own private moorings, away from the masses, have eight cabins rather than 80, and evoke the Egypt of a different time.

The dahabiyas are a real treat, and for every luxurious feature imaginable the Oberoi Zahra is a quite remarkable experience. It’s not a question of what’s for breakfast here – it’s a question of the chef asking you just how you’d like your eggs, then cooking them just for you.

Wanders off the boat, little moments of magic on it.

You can find it too in the hotels of Egypt’s cities. A comfortable city hotel, or the only remaining ancient wonder of the world behind your curtains?

Luxury Egypt holidays with africanexplorations.com

To us a luxurious Egypt holiday is not something which happens by staying in a nice place or two or seeing some remarkable things – it’s every aspect of the trip.

Take guides, for instance – the best guides in Egypt are something of a luxury too. Guiding is a degree in Egypt, a qualification that involves the study of Egyptology, languages and makes those who take you around engaging and informative.

They know the best times and the best ways to navigate around Egypt’s sites to make the experience as personal and special as it should be.

A sprinkling of luxury is simply what Egypt’s tourist attractions deserve.
