Namibia Holidays
Namibia Holidays - Namibia is one of my favourite countries, not least due to the diversity of landscape and sheer staggering beauty of the countryside, from the deserts of the Namib and the Kalahari, where one can walk or take a hot air balloon over, to spending time with the San people, learning about their mystical culture, to the extraordinary canyon of the Fish River, to wild camping throughout rugged, beautiful terrain to the gorgeous Caprivi Strip with its sand dunes and Kunene River, to Etosha and then the geologically fascinating Damaraland and Kaokoland regions, where one searches for rare plants such as the Welwitschia Mirabilis and species such as the Desert dwelling rhino and elephant.
And then to my personal favourite – the Skeleton Coast! This must be one of the world’s most inhospitable but beautiful places. It is absolutely wild, desolate and uninhabited. The area has everything from roaring dunes, windswept plains, towering canyons and saltpans to seal colonies and shipwrecks. Access to this private, northern, region of the park has been restricted for much of the last decade and Skeleton Coast Camp is located north of Mowe Bay, in one of the region’s dry riverbeds. There are 6 luxury tents which have superb views. Little extras like hot water bottles in your beds at night are very welcome, even in the height of summer, because fog forms due to the proximity of the ocean (and the frigid Benguela Current) to this bone dry hinterland and the temperature can plummet. Whether flying by charter aircraft from camp to camp, being driven with your own expert guide or indeed driving yourself, with a host of people who come from Namibia, either having lived there most of their lives or having worked there during their lives, we can ensure that we deliver your holiday of a lifetime!
